The Round-up offers a weekly sample of what our sister Red Cross Societies are working on around the world.
PAKISTAN: Providing emergency healthcare is just one facet of the Red Cross Red Crescent response to the flash floods. Teams are distributing food parcels and household items such as stoves, tents, blankets, hygiene kits and water. A clean water drinking unit has also been set up, and thousands of aqua tablets have been distributed. In total, 10,000 families will benefit from these interventions.
KENYA: The Kenyan Red Cross medical outreach program will reach 200,000 people living far from health facilities over the next six months. They will screen for malnutrition, give vaccinations to children and treat other health problems.
LIBYA: Foreign nationals in Libya, in particular sub-Saharan Africans, need protection and assistance. The ICRC is helping these and other groups, and making more visits to detainees.
