A community health project

July 22, 2016 - In collaboration with the Le Granit healthcare and social services centre, the Red Cross developed a community health project in Lac-Mégantic for seniors, adults with a loss of independence, and their caregivers. The project is based on the existing Red Cross Arts and Crafts program. 

Support for schools

July 22, 2016 - In the last three years, the Red Cross has contributed to 12 education projects. Isabelle Dagneau, Director of Complementary Education and Special Education Services at the Hauts-Cantons School Board, explained how the projects made a difference in Lac-Mégantic.

A new space for La Boîte Verte

La Boîte Verte, a solidarity cooperative and health food store, stood in the heart of downtown Lac-Mégantic. Since it was located within the zone affected by the events of July 6, the store was no longer accessible. 

Going home with the Home Project

Each year, business students at the École d'entrepreneurship de Beauce must take on an entrepreneurial challenge within the community. On July 6, 2013, a terrible tragedy struck Lac-Mégantic. Among the victims were Gaétan Lafontaine, one of the leaders who attended that very school, and his wife Joanie Turmel.
