Do I get a tax receipt?

You will get a tax receipt only if you choose the donation match option. If you choose Aeroplan points, no tax receipt is issued.

When will my points arrive?

Aeroplan points will be credited to your account within 15-30 calendar days from the date which your donation was made.

    Ottawa floods, 2026

    On July 1, intense rainfall and high winds flooded homes across Ottawa. Red Cross volunteers set up at the City’s information hubs, handing out clean-up kits and helping families navigate flood damage, insurance and recovery one conversation at a time.

    Manitoba wildfires, 2025

    When wildfires swept through Manitoba in the summer of 2025, thousands fled their homes. The Canadian Red Cross registered more than 32,700 evacuees, secured thousands of hotel rooms and opened shelters in Winnipeg.

    Hurricane Melissa, the Caribbean

    Melissa struck Jamaica as a Category 
5 hurricane, one of the strongest ever recorded in the Atlantic. The Canadian Red Cross sent an emergency medical clinic team and more than 18,000 relief items to the communities hit hardest.

When you donate $100 or more you will automatically be entered to win 250,000 Aeroplan points. The winner of this contest will be contacted privately. Please refer to the contest’s rules and regulations for more information.

Please note that due to Canada Revenue Agency rules, you cannot receive an official tax receipt when you choose to earn 100 Aeroplan Points for every $5 dollars you give.

Due to CRA regulations, a donor may receive either a tax receipt OR Aeroplan points, but not both. Aeroplan points are considered a benefit, so donations receiving Aeroplan points in return are ineligible for a tax receipt. However, should you opt-in to receive a tax receipt in lieu of Aeroplan points, your tax receipt will be emailed to you after you complete your donation online.
