Earlier this month, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) asked the Canadian Red Cross to conduct an assessment of the longer term needs of the 2011 Manitoba flood evacuees. Approximately 2,000 individuals were evacuated from six First Nations communities due to flooding that occurred in Manitoba in 2011.

June 21, 2013 - Canadian Red Cross is responding on multiple fronts as more individuals and families are affected by flooding in Alberta. Canadian Red Cross is supporting the municipalities and communities affected and will continue to work closely with officials to ensure that the basic needs of evacuees are being met. The Red Cross has been mobilizing personnel and supplies such as cots, hygiene kits and blankets to meet needs as requested by the municipalities and counties.
