Alberta has offices in Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Edmonton, Red Deer, Standoff, Grande Prairie, Slave Lake. Brooks is closed. There are no offices in Grande Cache, Newell County, Joussard or Nanton; however, we do offer services there as we do across the province.

The Canadian Red Cross in Alberta offers an extensive network of programs and services that actively reach out and serve local communities throughout the province.

Community Support Initiatives

Community support initiatives are programs and services that are developed to respond to specific local community needs.

Emergency & Disaster Services

In partnership with first responders, emergency managers, public officials and in collaboration with other voluntary sector organizations, the Red Cross may provide emergency and disaster services such as emergency lodging; reception and information; emergency food; emergency clothing; personal services and family reunification services.

The Canadian Red Cross Restoring Family Links program helps people in Canada re-establish contact with immediate family members after separation due to armed conflict, natural disaster, migration and other humanitarian crises.

First Aid and CPR Training

First aid and CPR training courses for home and babysitters; the workplace; first responders and instructors and training partners.

Health Equipment Loan Program and Services

Offers mobility, independence and safety to seniors and those recovering from illness or surgery in their own homes. This program operates a number of equipment programs tailored to the specific needs of local communities.

The Canadian Red Cross International Humanitarian Law program holds conferences, seminars and training workshops

Swimming and Water Safety

The Swimming and Water Safety program offers swimming lessons for all ages from preschool to adults.   This program also offers Leadership development training for those interested in becoming a water safety instructor or a Red Cross Training partner.

The Progress in Alberta: Recovery and Restoration

In June 2013, Alberta experienced heavy rainfall triggering catastrophic flooding.  Over 100,000 people were displaced throughout the region.  As receding waters gave way to the monstrous cleanup, total damage estimates exceed $5 billion in what has now been deemed the costliest disaster in Canadian history.
