This year marks the 20th annual giving campaign in Walmart stores across Canada. Money raised during this campaign helps disaster responses and preparedness, with funds going towards things like emergency lodging, clothing, food, and other items for people who are impacted by events like wildfires, floods and hurricanes.

Walmart Canada has consistently stood shoulder to shoulder with the Canadian Red Cross when help is needed. They are a long-time provider to the Canadian Red Cross for essential items, which helps us to  pre-position supplies that can mean immediate help, even to remote communities.

In the last year alone, Walmart Canada has supported the Red Cross responses to Hurricane Fiona in Atlantic Canada; wildfires in Alberta, Quebec, and Nova Scotia; as well as the Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine.

As the Canadian Red Cross’ largest corporate partnership, Walmart donations and campaigns over the last 20 years have helped ensure the safety and resiliency of communities in the face of disasters. Most recently, Walmart stores in Quebec and Atlantic Canada began their annual point of sale giving campaign earlier than planned, in response to the wildfires in Quebec and Nova Scotia.

From supporting emergency management preparedness and responses to, to purchasing and logistic support for the pre-positioning of emergency relief items destined for vulnerable communities, Walmart and their Associates continue to be leaders in answering the call for help.

This year’s in-store campaign takes place across the country between June 29-Jul 28.
