On the night of September 9, a team of Canadian Red Cross Quebec Zone volunteers―trained to respond to the emergency needs of people affected by a disaster―was mobilized to an apartment building on rue Sainte-Julie in downtown Trois-Rivières.

The volunteer team assessed the needs of each of the tenants, who were going through a difficult time, and offered Red Cross services such as emergency lodging, food and clothing for the next three days.

Red Cross volunteers are trained to provide emergency assistance and guide those affected by disasters to the services they may subsequently need to return to normal life as soon as possible.
