Coordinator-Data Management

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization is seeking a Data Management Coordinator to join our Emergency Management Systems Team and support our response to COVID 19.  This is a unique opportunity to work with a world recognized brand, shape the culture of the Canadian Red Cross and to put your passion for responding to emergencies and disasters to work for vulnerable people across the world.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Systems, and working closely with other members of the data management team, the Data Management Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring consistent, timely and accurate data management practices and reports.   This is a five -month term opportunity . 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility 1: Data Management

  • Create and run reports to extract data from various systems to meet operational and program requests
  • Use Excel including filters, formulas, etc. to develop lists and reports from various data sources (including combining data sets)
  • Maintain organized and thorough records
  • Provide input and assist with testing of new applications or system enhancements to improve data management capacities
  • Contribute to the improvement of data management practices

Responsibility 2: Data Review and Analysis

  • Review data to identify and address issues with quality and consistency
  • Review data to identify and address duplicate records
  • Review data to identify irregular patterns
  • Analyze data sets to identify and investigate patterns and anomalies

Responsibility 3: Emergency Operations

  • Develop and update processes for data entry in new operations
  • Cross reference data from multiple systems
  • Review system data quality and provides recommendations to Data Lead
  • Monitor operational and program adherence to processes and standards by leveraging data reviews

Additional duties:

  • Participate in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and service excellence to meet the needs of beneficiaries, including a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Integrates volunteer resources within the scope of responsibilities, as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent must have the commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement and model the core competencies of the CRCS: team excellence, service excellence, accountability and results focused.

This position requires a satisfactory Canadian criminal record reference check.

Education & Experience

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant disciple from a recognized institution and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with large volumes of data

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite with intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and high computer literacy
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is required, French considered a strong asset
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Accountable and independent
  • Ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority tasks at once
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The majority of the work is performed from a remote home office or in an adapted response environment which is moderately clean and comfortable.
  • Working outside of business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, will be required during emergencies.
  • Working additional and overtime hours may be required during emergencies.
