Photo of the Day: Disaster risk education in the Solomon Islands

potd aug 1

Today’s photo comes from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). IFRC photographer, Benoit Matsha-Carpentier and writer Patrick Fuller recently finished a mission where they travelled to several countries to see the effects of climate change on many communities. While visiting the Solomon Islands, they got to see first-hand some of the work that the Red Cross does in that region. Seen above, Ogier Kiko, branch officer of the Solomon Islands Red Cross, teaches school children about disaster risks and the best way to prepare. To see more photos from Benoit and Patrick’s mission, visit the IFRC photo slideshow.
