Video: Mozambique volunteer helps others after floods

Around the world, Red Cross volunteers help communities prepare and recover from disasters, in some case even as they themselves are affected. That's the case for Mozambique Red Cross volunteer Bernadita Cossa who is featured in this short video. She's among the 250,000 people who have been affected by flooding in late January which forced more 175,000 from their homes in Mozambique. They are now facing the challenges of returning home.

An improved early warning system implemented by the government and the Mozambique Red Cross did play a key role in reducing the impact of the floods.

As we shared in this blog post, the Canadian Red Cross is also offering help in Mozambique, through the deployment of health delegates.
