Photo of the Day: Ontario welcomes delegates from Jiangsu, China

Red Cross China

Last week, Ontario Zone headquarters hosted the Red Cross Society of China, Jiangsu Branch.  We met with six delegates, through International Operations, to discuss and share best practices in Disaster Management.  Denis Dion from National Office  provided a national overview of domestic operations in Canada while Mike Morton focused on Disaster Management Ontario Zone operations.  The Jiangsu Branch of the Chinese Red Cross has a long standing relationship with Ontario dating back to 1991 when Jiangsu region was hit with flooding.  The Canadian Red Cross raised $300,000 for a regional Disaster Preparedness centre to be built in Jiangsu and it was completed in 1997.  We are honoured to have established such a reciprocal supportive relationship with the Jiangsu Branch of the Chinese Red Cross and look forward to this continued relationship.
