Continuous rains coupled with the melting of the huge accumulation of snow across mountain ranges have triggered flooding which has swept down through valleys and innundated villages in the Sar-e-Pol province northern Afghanistan. The flooding caused mass destruction of settlements and forced forced thousands from their homes.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) are providing support to those impacted by this disaster. Learn more about their efforts here.
