This impressive photo taken from space by NASA shows the size of Typhoon Bopha, a category four storm that made landfall on the east coast of the Philippine island of Mindanao earlier today. It's impacting the same area that was affected by Typhoon Washi last year. Bopha brought winds of 175 kilometres per hour, and heavy rain to the Philippines.

The Philippine Red Cross was preparing ahead of the storm and has been assisting families who were evacuated pre-emptively.
