Photo of the Day: Canadian Red Cross volunteers help U.S. Sandy response

The 20 Canadian Red Cross volunteers who have been deployed to the United States in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy have been helping out with numerous tasks to support American Red Cross relief efforts, from distributing food to caring for people who are staying in shelters. Here’s Glenn Dutton from St. Thomas, Ontario who is in his 4th day of deployment working in logistics. This involves looking for available spaces that can be used for mass shelter, kitchen facilities, warehouses for Red Cross operations.

Another deployed Red Cross volunteer from Calgary, Susan MacKenzie, shared her impressions so far in this Calgary Herald article.

Red Cross volunteers are sending extra food and relief supplies to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in anticipation of the Nor'easter storm expected to bring heavy rain, winds, and potentially snow to the northeastern United States tomorrow.
