The Red Cross welcomes a new National Society!

On July 9, as South Sudan declared their independence from the north, a new National Society was born.

Headquartered in Juba, the South Sudan Red Cross will be formed of staff and volunteers who previously worked for the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, which continues to operate in Sudan.   It's ten state branches will offer emergency response, first aid, health and care, and water and sanitation services across the country.

With this new addition, there are now 187 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from one end of the globe to the other who are members of the International Federation!
