Connecting During Crisis – The Importance of Relationships During Stressful Times

Dan Clark

The Canadian Red Cross and Saskatchewan Roughriders work in partnership to help build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities across Saskatchewan.  Working alongside Indigenous communities and acknowledging their many strengths and deep knowledge, we customize our program offerings for each community so that it aligns with the needs they have identified and their vision for the future.

The Saskatchewan Roughrider players who also work as Canadian Red Cross Ambassadors, are engaged in delivering both virtual and in-person programming that aims to promote wellness, prevent violence and instill hope and a greater sense of resiliency in children, youth and their families.

*Schools please note – we no longer have available spaces in June and are now tentatively booking for September.
Community groups – there are spaces still available in July and August.

Thank you for your interest in booking a virtual presentation with a Saskatchewan Roughrider Canadian Red Cross ambassador

Please fill out the presentation request form below.

Within 24 hours of receiving your request, we will confirm the date and time of the virtual appearance for your school and/or community group.

HOW IT WORKS –

Each session is approximately 30 minutes in length.

It is a moderated ”Question & Answer” session between the Canadian Red Cross Violence Prevention team and a Saskatchewan Roughrider Red Cross ambassador.

The trained Red Cross ambassador will share their experiences about navigating uncertain times, identifying and coping with feelings of stress, reaching out for support when needed, and finding something positive in each day. Each session is rooted in messages of resiliency and connection.

While the content is most suitable for youth in Grades 4 and up, all ages are welcome. Sessions are customized and catered to the age and grades of the youth participating.

Throughout the session there are opportunities for youth to interact and contribute ideas through the online chat function. Some youth will also have an opportunity to ask the Red Cross ambassador questions during the call.

THINGS TO NOTE –

  • The Canadian Red Cross selects the Roughrider ambassador.
  • Sessions are held on Zoom or another preferred online platform. Once details are determined, a unique link to access the session is provided to the school or community group for distribution to participants in advance.
