Emergency Support When You Most Need It campaign

The Red Cross is launching the “Emergency Support When You Need it Most” campaign with honorary co-chairs Johanne Duhaime, Executive Vice-President of Information Technology, Desjardins Group and David Murray, Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Vice President – Generation, Health, Safety and Environment, Hydro-Québec. This major fundraiser will ensure that Red Cross volunteers and staff are always ready to help, wherever needs arise. This is how the campaign’s honorary co-chairs are demonstrating their support and humanity towards our communities.

“It gives me great pleasure to do my part to support the Red Cross campaign. I am sure that the Quebec business community will respond favourably to our call to action in support of those who need it most. We have the interests of the community at heart and we intend to take concrete action to promote their well-being.”
Johanne Duhaime, Executive Vice-President, Information Technology, Desjardins Group.

“I am very proud to join the Red Cross campaign for a second year in a row. Thanks to the donations collected as part of the campaign, the Red Cross will continue to meet the communities’ most pressing needs and to fulfill its essential humanitarian role.”
David Murray, Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Vice President – Generation, Hydro-Québec

“We are extremely grateful to be able to count on co-chairs who are so committed to the mission of the Red Cross and we are confident that the business community will answer this call. Thanks to our loyal donors and long-time partners, the Red Cross has been able to deploy volunteers and staff to the site of disasters and major catastrophic events over the past decades. Thank you so much!”
Pascal Mathieu, Vice President, Canadian Red Cross–Quebec.

Whether it is a house fire, a flood, a forest fire or any unprecedented event such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Red Cross teams are ready to respond quickly and effectively, regardless of the scale of the event. After any type of disaster, the Red Cross is there to reach out to those affected and provide the basics while they recover and get their life back on track: lodging, food, new clothing, personal care kits, reassurance and a sympathetic ear. It is clear that Red Cross expertise must be put to greater use in the months and years to come in order to increase our collective and individual preparedness to face the unexpected.
