Canadian Red Cross Campaign – Emergency Support When You Most Need It

The Red Cross is very pleased to announce that the Emergency Support When You Need it Most fundraising campaign has helped raise $1.5 million. This money will go to the Canadian Red Cross emergency fund which enables the organization to prepare for the unexpected and to efficiently support those who are impacted by disasters nationwide.

Normally, this significant contribution is raised as part of a gala evening that brings together members of the business community, and which has become an essential part of Montréal’s philanthropic scene. Thanks to the outstanding leadership of honorary co-chairs Martin Coiteux, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec Head of Economic Analysis and Global Strategy, and David Murray, Chief Operating Officer of Hydro-Québec and President of Hydro-Québec Production, a fundraising campaign was swiftly launched in support of the organization’s efforts during this pandemic. The organization also benefited from the unfailing support of Mr. Jeffrey Orr, President and Chief Executive Officer, Power Financial Corporation and of Ms. Suzanne Legge, Canadian Red Cross volunteer.

Once again this year, Quebec’s citizens and businesses have been immensely generous.

“We are so grateful for the demonstration of support from the business community at large during this fundraising campaign. The Red Cross appreciates this vote of confidence in the humanitarian role that it plays every day and especially during crises such as we are experiencing now. We also wish to thank our honorary co-chairs who immediately understood the importance and urgency of launching such a campaign.” Pascal Mathieu, Quebec Vice President of the Canadian Red Cross.
