Wearing pink to stand up to bullying began after two high school students in Nova Scotia, Travis Price and David Shepherd, took a stand against bullying in their school. The students asked all of their peers to wear pink to school after they heard a classmate had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
To continue the momentum, the Canadian Red Cross brings together schools and communities throughout the country to wear pink and stand together against bullying.
How is Red Cross involved in bullying prevention?
The Canadian Red Cross believes every child and youth should be treated with respect. For over 30 years the Red Cross has worked closely with schools and communities to promote respect and prevent violence. The Red Cross’ Beyond the Hurt program teaches youth and adults how to recognize, respond to and prevent bullying situations.
