The Canadian Red Cross and the Institut d’études internationals de Montréal (IEIM), with the collaboration of the Canadian Research Institute on Humanitarian Crises and Aid (OCCAH) are pleased to intite you to attend the 2022 Quebec IHL Conference.

In recent years, there has been growing attention to haw armed conflict affects people differently according to their gender. Structural inequalities, gender roles and social power dynamics that already exist can be exacerbated in the course of armed conflict. In 2022, the International Committee of the Red Cross analyzed the gendered impacts of armed conflict and implications for the application of international humanitarian law. This conference is part of this growing global interest in gender issues within international humanitarian law.

This free half-day public conference will include discussion from field experts, academics, and those with lived experience in conflict zones. It is hoped the conference will take place in-person, but health restrictions may necessitate a virtual event. The event will take place at Université du Québec à Montréal (Salle de la reconnaissance – Room D-R200), and will be available online here (French only): https://canadianredcross.zoom.us/s/99123886873?pwd=S2h1cEdEU2R5b21xdGUzRGdRVDZqdz09.
