Note: The following appeal is now closed.  You can support our ongoing work by donating to the Canadian Red Cross

I am in my room looking out the window at the courtyard below.  As I write, there are people, lights and noise everywhere. It's hard to believe it is almost midnight... I don't think this city sleeps.

We have been in Islamabad for about 24 hours now. The support from the people in Pakistan has been incredible.  The country is very aware of the bond between the Canadian Red Cross and the Pakistan Red Crescent, as we have been working here for five years.

Today has been a day filled with briefings and tomorrow we head to the field. It looks like we will be based in Larkana, where half of our team is already unpacking the boxes and setting up the hospital. There are many displaced people arriving in Larkana, staying in schools, spontaneous sites, tent camps or host families.

Tomorrow will be a big day as we get settled in.  We are all exhausted - it has been a long week with lots of travels. More to come once we are on the ground in Larkana.
