What do I do if I have technical problems when applying online or uploading my CV?

The volume of applications we are receiving can cause technical difficulties on our website. If you are having difficulties submitting your application, please send your CV, with the title of the position you are applying for, to talent@redcross.ca.

Do recruits all have to be bilingual?

Fluency in French, spoken and written, is a mandatory pre-requisite for this opportunity.

I am a current Red Cross volunteer and am available for a few weeks. I’d like to help. How do I apply?

We prioritize candidates who are available for at least one month. A member of the recruitment team will assess if your availability matches our operational needs. You can submit your application online at www.redcross.ca/ltc.

In which region of Quebec will I be working? Will I be housed and given allowance for food?

After filling positions for teams deployed in Montreal, we are now looking for candidates to fill positions in the Quebec City area. Successful candidates who are deployed outside of their current city of residence will be offered accommodation and provided a per diem to cover daily living expenses, including food.

Is this a full-time position?

We offer term positions for a period of 4 weeks or more depending on your availability. As long as Red Cross assistance is requested by the public authorities, we will be present in long-term care facilities.

We offer full-time positions only, with shifts taking place during the day or evening and/or weekends.

Will training be provided? Will I be compensated for attending the training?

Prior to deployment, all personnel will be provided with training and personal protective equipment necessary to perform their roles safely.

All in-person and online training hours are paid for.

What is the salary?

Wages are competitive to those offered by the government.

The amount is specified at the time of hiring on the contract.

I tried applying but the Red Cross job portal system would not allow me to submit my resume and cover letter. I got the following error message: This email already exists.

This means a profile already exists in our application tracking system with the same email address you used to apply. You need to log in as a ‘’Returning Canadian Red Cross applicant’’ first, then you will be able to add the desired position to your application profile.

Can I apply to more than one position?

Yes. You need to apply separately to each position you’re interested in since applications for each role are being processed by different recruiters. Separate applications make it easier for our team to ensure proper follow-up.

I applied several days ago and haven’t heard anything. Is this normal?

We are currently processing a high volume of applications, so delays are expected. The current deadline is 2 to 5 days. Thank you for your patience.

What insurance coverage does Canadian Red Cross provide?

All personnel are expected to have provincial health coverage. Generally speaking, for employees, the Canadian Red Cross will provide insurance for some additional coverage. Insurance information and details will be provided in the onboarding portal. Personnel are encouraged to download the policy information and seek independent advice on coverage based on their personal circumstance.

I am from outside of Canada, am I eligible to apply?

You are welcome to apply if you are already eligible to work in Canada. Please note that no relocation package is available for these positions. International travel to Canada may also be limited due to current border restrictions.

How old do I need to be to join Red Cross teams in long-term care homes?

In accordance with the requirements of the Government of Quebec and the Ministry of Health and Social Services, all candidates must be 18 years of age or older to support residents in a long-term care facility.
