Support COVID-19 relief in long-term care facilities (CHSLD) in Quebec

The Canadian Red Cross is recruiting humanitarian workers that can provide vital support to personnel and residents in long-term care facilities (CHSLD) in Quebec.

Our goal is to build and maintain teams of personnel who will occupy various roles. Teams will be asked to commit to a minimum of four weeks on site, though longer assignments will also be available. Travel and accommodation will be provided if needed.

After a recruitment campaign in Montréal, we are now looking for bilingual Canadians like you to join Red Cross Care teams that could be deployed in the Quebec City area to fill the following paid positions: Support Aide, Site Manager, and Health and Safety Advisor

If you have already applied during our Montreal recruitment campaign, our recruitment team will communicate with you shortly.

As each CHSLD presents unique needs, an advance team will be deployed in order to conduct an immediate prevention and safety review in order to understand needs. With appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), this rapid assessment will help support the health and safety of the team going forward.
These paid positions in the QUebec City area include:

Support Aide: Assist residents with the basic activities of daily living, which may include socialization and engagement, nutrition support, organization and light cleaning, safety and wellbeing, and reporting and documentation.

Site Manager:  Act in an on-site role and to oversee/direct the work of the LTC team to ensure a safe and consistent service delivery plan, recognize and escalate issues, barriers, hardships and strategies for service improvement and team wellbeing.

Health and Safety Advisor: Provide Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) support to CRC personnel to ensure health and safety of CRC team in supporting long-term care (LTC) facilities operations.
Minimum requirements for all positions include:
  • Passion and ability to work with seniors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle and facilitate interactions with the general public, clients and colleagues
  • Sensitive and empathetic to the needs of the residents and able to communicate and engage confidently
All personnel must pass a health screening and will be provided with training and personal protective equipment necessary to perform their roles safely.
Thank you for your interest in supporting the Canadian Red Cross as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.  We look forward to talking with you about how you can help.
