Alberta

  • Alberta Chinese Cultural Education Society – Providing academic and physical activities for children and youth in the Chinese community of Edmonton. Masks and sanitizer will also be distributed to vulnerable community members.
  • Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council – Developing online resources for those at risk of, or experiencing, elder abuse, as well as family members and caregivers who wish to be better informed about elder abuse.
  • Alberta Recreation and Parks Association – Virtually connecting Elders in Treaty 7 with Elders from around the world so they can share stories and better comprehend COVID-19, defined by traditional knowledge.
  • Alberta Seniors & Community Housing Association – Providing free webinars on COVID-19 risk mitigation and best practices to staff members of senior living organizations across Canada.
  • Alberta Somali Community Centre - Hiring health care workers to better respond to the needs of seniors and families during COVID-19. Virtual and phone support services will be set up and tablets will be loaned out to facilitate access to support, interpretation, and translation services.
  • Arbredevie Fine-Arts World Fellowship - Adapting and delivering webinars to immigrant families, using music, arts and crafts and poetry to demonstrate how to stay healthy during COVID-19.  
  • Association Francophone de Brooks – Ensuring the youth centre is a safe environment during COVID-19 so it can continue to provide service to children and young immigrants.
  • Athabasca Native Friendship Centre Society – Providing digital service delivery of ongoing social inclusion and learning programming, primarily for vulnerable Indigenous people in Athabasca.
  • Black Canadian Women in Action Society – Engaging community volunteers to mentor Black girls, youth, and women in Edmonton to address issues of self-confidence, positivity and skills development.
    • Designing and presenting informational and training webinars for Black children to support their wellbeing, boost their self esteem, and encourage the resumption of physical, artistic and recreational activities.
    • Pairing young Black women in Edmonton with community volunteers to help address issues related to self-confidence, positivity and skill development, which have declined due to isolation as a result of COVID-19.
  • Calgary Family Peer Connections - Providing weekly pop-up distribution sites in the district of Willow Creek where families, couples, and members of the community can obtain educational kits containing food supplies, hygiene products, and information booklets.
  • Calgary Sport Council Society – Purchasing personal protective equipment for instructors and volunteers, thereby allowing free physical activities and sports programs to continue for children and youth.  
  • Calgary West Central P.G. Co. – Educating staff on appropriate COVID-19 infection, prevention and control protocols to help ensure the health and safety of both personnel and patients.
  • Centre de Bien-Etre et de Prevention pour Afro-Canadiens de l’Alberta – Recruiting, training and mobilizing volunteers to reach out to seniors in the Edmonton area who are experiencing increased isolation as a result of COVID-19 by checking in on their wellbeing, delivering groceries, and ensuring they have access to medications.
  • Children First Canada – Continuing the organization’s Young Canadians’ Parliament program as a means of effectively engaging children and youth about their rights and to educate them about ways in which they may be impacted by COVID-19.
  • Citadel Multicultural Centre – Delivering family-friendly care packages to vulnerable people in Edmonton, using volunteers to help raise awareness about the post-COVID-19 recovery process.
    • Delivering in-person group mental health workshops, one-on-one counselling, and online workshops on themes such as anxiety management, domestic violence, and substance abuse. The workshops are aimed at those living in low-income, children and youth, and people struggling with addiction. Personal protective equipment will also be distributed.
  • Edmonton Heyoka Society – Providing counselling, spiritual and cultural support, as well as practical support such as respite care to Indigenous people with a focus on seniors, Elders, women and girls.  
  • E2S - Edmonton 2 Spirit Society – Offering small group and virtual ribbon skirt-making and beading circles to two-spirit people who are experiencing social isolation due to COVID-19.
  • Edmonton Ski Club – Providing new summer activities for children and their families to address the lack of recreational activities in the Edmonton area due to COVID-19. Preparations will also be made for the next ski season, such as implementing a contactless ticket booth.
  • Family Advancement Association – Providing culturally-sensitive and community-based COVID-19 information for black individuals in Edmonton and distributing tablets so that the most marginalized will have access to these online materials.
  • Family Ties (1997) Association – Training clinicians to provide online, in-person and group counselling for vulnerable people in Lethbridge with a focus on children and youth, Indigenous community members and those living in poverty.
  • Filipino Association of Grande Prairie and Area – Addressing wellbeing and social inclusion by providing activities such as sports, language tutorials and dance to local families in need. Personal protective materials will also be provided.
  • Fort McKay Women's Association – Adjusting summer camp and after school programming for Indigenous children and youth to ensure physical distancing, while focusing on activities that promote social wellbeing, positive mental health and inclusion.
  • Foundation for Oromian Culture, Education and Art Services – Supporting vulnerable people in Alberta by delivering food to seniors and newcomers, providing COVID-19 information through virtual platforms, and offering virtual classes to children and youth.
    • Purchasing and delivering food and hygiene supplies to vulnerable individuals in the Calgary and Edmonton areas who are experiencing hunger as a result of COVID-19. The focus will largely be on newcomers, seniors, and racialized Black seniors, youth, and children. 
  • Free Play for Kids – Broadcasting a daily internet talk show on Facebook aimed at reaching vulnerable children and youth experiencing social barriers.
  • Horn Youth Services Foundation (KULAN) - Providing community support counseling to vulnerable individuals, especially those suffering from domestic violence, as well as hosting recreational activities for children and seniors in Edmonton.
  • Innisfail Senior Drop-In Society – Ensuring the safety requirements needed to reopen the drop-in centre are followed while adapting existing service delivery for seniors to a virtual model in the event the centre cannot re-open due to COVID-19.
  • Institut Guy-Lacombe de la famille - Providing personal protective equipment to vulnerable people and educating parents and children on coping strategies during COVID-19.
  • Kidsport Society of Stettler – Focusing on the mental health and safety of children through activity and sports by implementing health and safety regulations and protocols in community sports programs.  
  • La fédération du sport francophone de l'Alberta – Sharing French-language videos to encourage families, children, the elderly, and women to stay active during COVID-19.
    • Developing a virtual motivational conference to address isolation issues experienced by vulnerable people in the Edmonton area. The conference will also be shared with Francophone and immersion schools across the province.
  • Lao Canadian Seniors Club of Edmonton & Surrounding Districts – Distributing food supplies and assisting Laos seniors who are facing barriers due to the pandemic in attending their medical appointments.
    • Reducing social isolation among Lao seniors, refugees, and newcomers in the Edmonton area through the sharing of Lao language webinars and meetings.
  • Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group – Creating and delivering a mailer to residents outlining local crisis and community resources that are providing support during COVID-19.
  • Markazul Iman for Tomorrow's Shade Association – Delivering food delivery and settlement information translated into native languages to newcomers in the Edmonton area.
  • Northern Alberta Co-operative Housing Association - Loaning equipment such as tablets and laptops and providing virtual training about co-op housing community development to help residents actively participate in democratic governance.
  • Organisation Haitienne d'Edmonton / Haitian Organization of Edmonton Society - Preparing and distributing kits containing basic necessities including food, sanitary products, personal protective equipment and information for vulnerable newcomers, racialized Black community members and people living in poverty.
  • Oromian Community Association of Northern Alberta – Designing and delivering material to raise awareness about the changing phases of COVID-19 among new Canadians, in their first languages. Food and other essential items will also be provided to those in need.  
  • Partners for Humanity Foundation – Adapting service delivery to digital channels to provide access to services for vulnerable people in Edmonton, as well as activities such as literacy classes, virtual training for youth, and parental engagement sessions.
    • Using flyers, billboards and television segments to share COVID-19-related information in English, French, Somali, and Swahili with Black Canadians in the Edmonton area.
  • Pincher Creek Family Resource Society – Providing evidence-based programming to increase confidence in parenting skills among new parents.
  • Portail de l'Immigrant Association de Calgary – Offering wellness activities to vulnerable people to support strong mental and physical health, while designing and distributing community resources related to safe behaviours.
  • Pride Calgary Planning Committee – Increasing the wellbeing and social inclusion of LGBTQ2S+ by adapting annual Calgary Pride week events to a free online learning series.
    • Continuing a series of online workshops to connect the LGBTQ2S+ community to each other and the broader public.
  • Pukhtoon Cultural and Nationalist Council – Delivering meals and groceries to identified families in Calgary. Trained volunteers will also ensure families have access to medication and other basic necessities, and transportation will be provided to those in need.
    • Training volunteers to support seniors in the Calgary area through the delivery of food and other essential items.
  • Rhema Multicultural Centre – Improving food security for newcomers, Indigenous people and vulnerable families while providing seminars and training to help individuals enter the job market.  
  • Rotary Club of Fort McMurray – Distributing books to children under the age of five to support early literacy and development in light of increased recreational closures during COVID-19.
  • Shiloh Centre For Multicultural Roots – Mobilizing trained African American/Canadians in Alberta to ensure the basic needs, as well as school and recreational needs of struggling visible minorities are being met during COVID-19. The project will also focus on ensuring a connection to family for those who are experiencing hardship due to the pandemic.
  • Sikh Youth Edmonton Society – Expanding the provision of food and hygiene supplies to vulnerable members of the community across Alberta.
  • Sinkunia Community Development Organization-Edmonton Association - Recruiting and training volunteer youth from the African immigrant community, as well as youth facilitators, to provide engagement activities, food, and transportation to essential services to vulnerable members of the Black community.
  • Skillcity Institute – Implementing a youth-focused creative and collaborative digital learning environment to enhance the social and mental well-being of vulnerable young people in Edmonton.
  • Somali Canadian Society of Calgary – Recruiting staff and volunteers to provide direct support to families in the Brooks area. This will include translation for those with language barriers, direct aid, and coping strategies.  
  • Stitch It Forward Society of Lethbridge – Engaging new and current volunteers in sewing, knitting, and crocheting protective items such as masks and distributing them to local organizations.
  • The Al-Qaim Charity Foundation – Mobilizing volunteers to provide, prepare and deliver food hampers and run essential errands for vulnerable community members in the Calgary area.
  • The Deen Strong Foundation – Creating an accessible digital platform that connects clients with mental health or mentoring service providers to address the social, cultural, economic, and geographic barriers to receiving mental health support.
  • The Sierra Leone Association of Alberta – Distributing food to members of the Sierra Leone diaspora community in Alberta, focusing on single parent households and those living with disabilities. 
    • Distributing laptops to low-income or vulnerable households to ensure children have access to educational support.
    • Using virtual training and seminars to assist community members as they transition back into the workforce.
  • Towunmi Coker Literary Initiative Foundation – Training volunteers to reach out to newcomers, youth and low-income earners in the Edmonton area who are experiencing challenges due to COVID-19, and promoting inclusion through webinars.
    • Designing and delivering virtual educational and social programming tools for new Canadian families, low-income earners, their children and youth to support them in accessing information and resources during COVID-19.
  • Tribal Chiefs Employment and Training Services Association – Equipping the organization's sites in communities outside of Edmonton, including daycares, to ensure they can safely reopen and continue providing service to Indigenous communities.
  • Tribal Chiefs Ventures – Providing food or grocery gift cards to Indigenous members of the community who are facing challenges accessing local food sources during the pandemic. Information will also be shared on how to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
  • Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council - Providing newcomers with educational alternatives through webinars, creative boxes with activities for children, personal protective equipment and back-to-school supplies for children, and hygiene kits and entertainment for seniors.
  • Urji Women's Support Association of Edmonton – Providing groceries and cooked meals to vulnerable people in the Edmonton area as well as to those who have been self-isolating as a result of COVID-19.
  • Willow Creek Community Adult Learning Society – Developing and delivering blended workshops and webinars to families who have limited access to computers/mobile devices or the internet, thereby enabling them to obtain online support and critical services.

British Columbia and Yukon

  • 100 Mile & District Minor Hockey Association – Installing appropriate dividers in ice rinks to allow members and coaches to remain safe while on the ice.
  • 333 Recovery Homes Society – Addressing an urgent need for substance abuse treatment during COVID-19 by ensuring there are full-time staff available to deliver programming.
  • African Art & Cultural Community Contributor – Distributing food baskets to vulnerable Black community members on Vancouver Island, while organizing a series of webinars on various themes including food security, financial security, community information and navigation, and mental health and wellbeing.
  • African-Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association – Distributing food hampers to underserved families in Surrey while enhancing the organization’s digital infrastructure to ensure an ongoing online connection with the community.
  • African Friendship Society – Supporting access to community support in a culturally safe space while promoting cultural healing through weekly sessions featuring guest artists.
    • Staging cultural and artistic events for Black men to support cultural healing while adhering to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
  • African Women Empowerment Society – Distributing food hampers to underserved families in Surrey while maintaining an online presence to serve the target population.
  • All Genders Yukon Society – Providing mental health support to members of LGBTQ2S+ communities in Whitehorse through one-on-one counselling sessions, as well as distributing gift cards to families in need.
  • Apex Fire Brigade Society – Purchasing personal protective equipment and sanitation supplies to help keep volunteer firefighters and clients safe while responding to routine calls that could expose them to COVID-19.  
  • Assemblée francophone des retraités et aînés de la Colombie-Britannique – Adapting the organization’s integration and accessibility program to an online version in order to allow for continued support to British Columbia’s most vulnerable and isolated seniors.
  • BC Arabic School Foundation - Adapting in-person weekend programming to online delivery for children and families affected by the pandemic, with a focus on newcomers, families living in low-income, and those whose first language is not English.
  • BCEdAccess Society – Using webinars and videos to distribute information about school division adaptations to COVID-19 to parents of children living with disabilities.
  • Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Canada: Lodge #45 – Adapting service delivery options to serve food to seniors, persons with disabilities and community members who are experiencing isolation due to COVID-19.
  • BIBAK Organization of British Columbia - Providing cultural workshops to youth, including racialized Filipinos, who are experiencing isolation due to COVID-19.
  • BizKids Practical Education Association – Providing a safe, interactive online environment for children to engage in educational programming, with a focus on building real world skills.
  • Blackburn Community Association – Gathering ideas from families through phone calls and an online survey to define and implement new recreational programming, as well as to increase the capacity of the organization to respond to the needs of seniors and Elders.
  • Bridge River Valley Community Association – Providing outreach to vulnerable community members who are experiencing increased isolation as a result of COVID-19, including wellness checks, sharing information, and delivering supplies.
  • British Columbia Native Women's Association – Offering a culturally relevant online wellness series for Indigenous women and girls across the province to help address social isolation.
  • calmversation learning foundation - Creating and adapting workshops and online courses to support teachers in bringing calm, connection, and creativity into their physical classroom.
    • Developing and providing a home-care kit to support parents in promoting compassionate dialogue, understanding and creative problem-solving with their children. Online events will help ensure children and youth across the province are reached.
  • Candle Light Foundation for Girls Education Canada – Distributing care packages to women, girls and their families in the Greater Vancouver Area who are experiencing economic challenges as a result of the pandemic.
  • Caregivers Network for East Kootenay Seniors Society - Facilitating access to information and support services for family caregivers and seniors facing increased isolation and health concerns during COVID-19.
    • Delivering wellness kits, including food, to caregivers and medically vulnerable seniors in the East Kootenay region who are experiencing increased isolation as a result of COVID-19. Information materials will also be distributed that focus on mental health and wellbeing.
  • Centre d'Integration pour Immigrants Africains - Centre of Integration for African Immigrants – Establishing a resource centre, primarily for African Francophone communities, providing access to a safe networking venue and socially distanced contacts with their community during COVID-19.
  • Coastal Research, Education, and Advocacy Network – Providing holistic case management to Black, Indigenous, and youth of colour to ensure they are connected to appropriate resources and support in a timely manner.  
    • Providing academic enrichment opportunities to support personal growth and creative expression of vulnerable middle highschool students in Victoria and Vancouver.
  • Cowichan Housing Association – Extending emergency housing provisions to the homeless in the Cowichan Valley, along with meals and laundry services.
  • Cranbrook and District Restorative Justice Society - Developing and enacting policies that reflect a COVID-19 reality in order to continue hosting small group discussions to promote restorative justice in the Cranbrook area.
  • Darkspark – Delivering arts programming for youth in vulnerable communities across the country by developing an online platform to share with community members.
    • Adapting existing services and implementing an online platform to launch a virtual anti-racism program. Youth from diverse backgrounds will be invited to share their experiences of racism and educate others through the arts.
  • Dignidad Migrante Society – Responding to the needs of temporary foreign workers on farms across British Columbia who have become isolated with little access to information, food, and recreational activities.
  • Downtown Eastside SRO Collaborative Society – Creating a communication network to deliver COVID-19 information and supplies among single-room occupancy hotels in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
  • DUDES Club Society – Providing weekly virtual talking circles for Indigenous men, including those who are incarcerated in provincial correction centres, to support their mental wellbeing and access to COVID-19 information.
  • East Richmond Community Association – Adapting programs to ensure physically distanced sports, fitness and recreation activities can continue for children, youth, adults and seniors.
  • Enderby and District Curling Society – Adapting the regular curling offering to provide a safe season of curling for seniors during COVID-19.
  • Equality Project Society – Adapting existing client-serving spaces to ensure continuation of support to vulnerable people in Cache Creek, focusing primarily on low-income earners or those living in poverty.
  • FASD Okanagan Valley Assessment and Support Society – Providing meals twice a week during support groups for adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders in the Okanagan Valley.
    • Adapting support services for adults living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and their caregivers, including adapting the physical clinic space and providing online sessions. 
  • Fairway Gorge Paddling Society – Offering a safe and healthy environment during COVID-19 to provide people of all age groups the opportunity to enjoy healthy physical activities on the water.
  • Festivals and Special Events Development Society of Kelowna - Adapting free and accessible community arts programming to comply with COVID-19 health and safety requirements.
  • Fiji Canada Association – Providing bi-weekly meals and hygiene supplies to vulnerable community members in Surrey. Workshops will also be held to share information on COVID-19.
  • First Nations Technology Council – Delivering skills training webinars to Indigenous communities to facilitate discussions related to COVID-19 response strategies, as well as supporting knowledge sharing and the creation of a virtual network among members. 
  • Fit Pets Dog Sports Association – Reducing social isolation among seniors by offering online dog training classes.
  • Flavours of Hope Society – Providing culturally relevant support and community resources to refugee women in the Vancouver and Burnaby areas through online and in-person activities.
  • Fraser Lake Fire Rescue Training Society – Purchasing equipment, including a commercial SCBA mask washer and dryer, to ensure masks are fully disinfected and volunteer firefighters are kept safe during routine calls which could expose them and others to COVID-19.
  • Great Lakes Networking Society of BC – Providing culturally appropriate food to community members in the greater Vancouver area, and webinars for African diaspora.
  • Greater Trail Community Restorative Justice Society – Training new volunteer facilitators in Cranbrook to help facilitate restorative justice for those whose cases have been delayed due to COVID-19, with a goal of mediating the conflict outside of a court system.
  • Kajaks Track and Field Club – Adapting athlete training programs to a virtual method while in-person training is not possible, and then complying with COVID-19 health protocols when in-person training can resume.
  • Kootenay Food Strategy Society – Expanding community gardens to allow families to grow food while increasing the garden’s output of free food for the general public and donations to the local food bank.
  • Lake Trail Community Education Society - Providing arts and outdoor programming, as well as a healthy meal, to students in British Columbia.
    • Adapting service delivery to allow for meals to be provided to vulnerable youth.
  • La Société francophone de Victoria – Offering remote workshops, mini-conferences and even shows to members of the organization in the Victoria region.
  • Latincouver Cultural and Business Society – Recruiting and training volunteers to reach out to Latin American newcomers in the Vancouver area who are experiencing isolation and unemployment due to COVID-19. Online events will also be offered.
  • Lived Experience Community Life and Peer Skills Program Society - Providing breakfast and lunch through a mobile distribution system, primarily to people experiencing homelessness, people living with mental illness and people struggling with addiction.
  • Minoru Seniors Society – Providing wellness-based engagement activities for isolated Chinese seniors facing language barriers.  
  • Mission Alano Club – Allowing the club to reopen and provide assistance to additional people experiencing homelessness, living with mental illness, or struggling with addiction, and others who are also increasingly vulnerable.
  • Modern Man Family Project Society – Offering support to fathers in the Kamloops area through one-on-one counselling and peer support to equip them with coping skills and emotional awareness during COVID-19. This will be complemented by monthly family outings.
  • My Artist's Corner Society, BC – Adapting delivery of a peer mental health and arts program to combat increased isolation resulting from COVID-19.
  • New Horizons Society for Autism & Special Needs – Providing behavioural and educational support to children and youth with special needs and learning disabilities from Williams Lake.
  • Nisga'a Ts'amiks Vancouver Society – Increasing food security by supporting the provision of food to Indigenous Nisga'a Nation members living in remote areas of Nisga'a lands.
    • Delivering traditional food to Indigenous members living away from Nisga'a lands, mental health counselling related to coping with COVID-19, and culturally appropriate small-group tutoring for youth.
  • North Island Metis Association – Providing a monthly food box program and food security information for Metis people living on northern Vancouver Island.
  • Northern Adapted Sports Association – Delivering services to ensure people living with disabilities in British Columbia can remain physically active, healthy, and socially included.
    • Creating and distributing resource packs to communities across northern British Columbia to encourage and facilitate healthy active living with a focus on children and youth, Indigenous and First Nations communities and those living in low-income.
  • Northern Shuswap Tribal Council Society – Hiring additional staff members to conduct outreach into First Nations communities in order to assess their needs, advocate on their behalf, and to apply for government services.
  • North Park Neighbourhood Association – Leveraging park space to support community residents by hosting recreation activities, setting up public seating for local business patrons, and distributing food hampers through a low/no cost farmer's market.
  • Nuru Training Association - Distributing COVID-19 health kits to immigrants in Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey, and training seniors on how to protect themselves against COVID-19.
  • Oromian Canadian Association of BC – Recruiting, training and mobilizing volunteers to reach seniors and newcomer families in the Vancouver metropolitan area with COVID-19 information through virtual seminars.
  • PacificSport Regional Centre Vancouver Island Society – Providing an after-school sports program for children in Duncan who have limited opportunities to participate in organized physical activity due to the cancellation of community-based sports programs during COVID-19.
  • Protection Island Lions Club – Providing ferry passes, fuel for boats and grocery cards to vulnerable people impacted by COVID-19 to encourage activity during the pandemic.
  • Pursuit Projects Society – Delivering groceries to vulnerable people in the Greater Vancouver Area while supporting the development of youth through leadership training.
  • Queer Yukon Society – Using performances to provide community resources and public health information to LGBTQ2S+ community members. The events will specifically target those who are Black, Indigenous, or otherwise racialized within the LGBTQ2S+ community.
  • Reach Community Support Society – Recruiting additional volunteers and providing further training to ensure their outreach program can continue providing support to vulnerable people in need of food and social connection.
  • Richmond City Centre Community Association – Live-streaming community programming to isolated, vulnerable individuals to ensure they can continue engaging with their community, while ensuring that in-person activities respect social distancing and other public health measures.
  • Richmond Gymnastics Association – Continuing to provide gymnastics classes to children and youth by investing in resources to adapt existing service delivery to adhere to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
  • Royal Academy of Bhangra Society – Creating and broadcasting webinars to raise awareness of COVID-19 among the South Asian population in the Surrey area.
  • Shawnigan Cobble Hill Farmers Institute and Agricultural Society – Providing nourishing meals to seniors, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and people experiencing homelessness.
  • Sher Vancouver LGTBQ+ Friends Society – Providing counselling, crisis support, and peer support to LGTBQ+ people to ensure their specific COVID-19 needs are met.
    • Supporting the organization's capacity to deliver crisis support through counselling. A social worker will be hired to provide intake and community referral support, create a community resource listing and provide supplementary crisis intervention.
  • ShEvalesco Female Empowerment Association – Designing and delivering weekly resources and webinars to women across British Columbia in order to build resilience and reduce isolation.
  • Shuswap Immigrant Services Society – Adapting the organization's English as a second language classes to an online format, while ensuring the classroom setting meets public health guidelines when gradually reopening.

  • The Retail Action Network Society – Distributing information and providing counselling and online training to workers in essential industries, including racialized workers and temporary foreign workers.

  • The Yukon Status of Women Council – Purchasing and distributing pre-paid phone cards to people who are experiencing increased vulnerability through isolation and lack of access to online support services.
  • Vancouver Committee for Domestic Workers and Caregivers Rights – Responding to the increased demand for services for former and current care workers in the Vancouver area as a result of COVID-19. Services will include individual referral and consultations and group socialization through on-line platforms.
  • Vancouver Island Human Rights Coalition – Designing and delivering free, interactive webinars on topics related to human rights in the context of COVID-19, while meeting the increased demand for client referrals regarding discrimination related to COVID-19.
  • Vancouver Island Soccer League – Adapting to comply with public health standards so that games can resume, providing physical and mental health benefits to the youth and adults who play in the league.
  • Victoria Community Health Co-Operative – Adapting well-being information sessions to an online format, as well as adding "check-in" phone calls to assess the needs of the Victoria community during COVID-19. 
    • Delivering health information and personal protective equipment to people living in group homes or supportive living who have been impacted by COVID-19, as well as seniors and those struggling with addiction. Information materials will also be distributed to partner organizations to help raise awareness of COVID-19.  
  • Victoria Multicultural Society – Providing a drop-in and social place where community members can access legal resources related to tenancy and employment, and functional resources such as printing, Wi-Fi and laptops. The project is primarily focused on reaching marginalized people, low-wage workers and LGBTQ2S+ and Latinx communities.
  • Wesburn Community Association – Ensuring adequate staffing levels to allow for soccer programming to continue for children and youth from low-income households.
  • West Kootenay Community EcoSociety – Delivering fresh food to low-income households through the Farms to Friends program.
  • Wildsight Elk Valley – Following COVID-19 health and safety protocols to provide a safe environment at the weekly farmers' market, thereby ensuring access to food for visitors, including those living in low-income, seniors, women and girls.  
  • Williams Lake Blue Fin Swim Club – Dividing existing lanes in order to allow more children to participate in the swim program while maintaining social distancing and ensuring employee protection.
  • Wiseland Humanitarian Association – Recruiting, training and mobilizing additional volunteers to meet the increased demand for free laundry vouchers and personal hygiene supplies from clients living in poverty or experiencing homelessness.
  • Yoga Buggy – Adapting summer programming to deliver online yoga sessions for children and youth in British Columbia to promote social inclusion, wellbeing, and mental health.
  • Youth Leadership Society of BC – Providing access to food supplies to vulnerable families across the Fraser Valley.

  • Bilal Community and Family Centre – Adapting existing education and recreation programs to online delivery to provide personal development activities for children and adults in Winnipeg.
    • Providing tutoring to children and youth in Winnipeg who need academic support. Food will also be delivered. 
  • Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation – Hiring outreach workers to support vulnerable individuals at high risk for COVID-19, with a focus on Indigenous community members, people experiencing homelessness, and those struggling with addiction. Outreach workers will provide referrals to appropriate testing resources, monitor symptoms, and direct them to housing resources for isolation purposes.
  • Council of South Sudanese Community of Manitoba – Supplying low-income families with computers to support online learning and completion of homework.
  • Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation – Delivering meals and basic necessities to vulnerable people in Dauphin.
  • Ethnocultural Council of Manitoba-Stronger Together – Assisting parents from ethnocultural groups in the use of computers to support online and home schooling. Culturally sensitive activities such as storytelling and traditional games will also be developed to engage seniors who are isolated due to COVID-19.
  • Jubaland Community Association of Manitoba Inc – Maintaining the mental health of Somali youth and seniors by connecting them, through the use of technology, in a mentor/mentee relationship.
    • Providing a virtual violence prevention program for newcomer women and girls in order to address the increased occurrence of domestic violence during COVID-19.
  • Manitoba Somali Association – Adapting the organization’s educational support to children of Somali descent whose parents are unable to help them with their schoolwork, while offering cultural classes through an online/in-person hybrid format.
    • Providing psychosocial support and physical wellness to women who are experiencing domestic and gender-based violence. This includes workshops and a physical fitness program.
  • Manitoba Women for Women of South Sudan – Providing South Sudanese women and children in the province with various social services in response to increased demand for vital services and goods due to COVID-19.
  • Minnedosa & District Services to Seniors – Purchasing tablets to enable seniors in Minnedosa and surrounding area to communicate with loved ones via video chat. Equipment will also be purchased to allow staff members to work from home while continuing to maintain services.
  • Neeginan Centre - Adapting operations to enable Indigenous people safe access to services including a preschool, health clinic, campuses and an employment centre.
  • Nigerian Association of Manitoba – Preparing and delivering food/hygiene packages and mental health services to people in Winnipeg who are feeling the economic impacts of COVID-19, with a focus on newcomers, Black community members and those living in low-income.
  • Nunavut Bilingual Education Society – Delivering Inuktitut literacy packs, including books, DVDs/CDs and learning materials to vulnerable adults living in care outside of Nunavut.
  • Pilot Mound Millennium Recreation Complex – Adapting operations to ensure program delivery can continue, specifically for children, youth and seniors.
  • Programme Jeunesse Ici Corp. – Assisting newcomers to Winnipeg in navigating and understanding information and services during the pandemic through the provision of materials in local languages. Food deliveries and an online concert will also take place.
  • Rahma Community and Youth Centre – Delivering educational and mentorship activities to newcomer children and youth in Winnipeg and are experiencing challenges due to COVID-19.
    • Delivering a community-based resilience and capacity building program for at-risk newcomer youth by harnessing the power of sport, leadership and media literacy while promoting integration and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Seine River Services for Seniors – Covering the costs of materials (masks, disinfectants, gloves) to protect volunteers, possible visitors and the seniors they are supporting through transportation and deliveries of essential items.

  • U Multicultural – Designing and delivering educational videos for newcomers about how to identify COVID-19, how to access critical services while physical distancing, and general preparedness tips. The videos will be distributed on the web and on local TV stations across Canada.

  • Flat Bay Band Inc. – Responding to increased community needs in relation to COVID-19 by hiring a coordinator to tailor programs for virtual delivery as well as to coordinate the provision of programming and direct aid to the community.

  • NL Association of the Deaf – Utilizing deaf interpreters and in-person and online sessions to ensure the deaf community across the province has access to COVID-19-related information in American Sign Language.
  • Northshore Aboriginal Group Inc. – Providing essential food and hygiene supplies to Indigenous seniors and Elders in communities on the Northshore, while at the same time conducting wellness checks.

  • Alsalam Foundation - Training volunteers to reach out to seniors in Mississauga, help them with grocery shopping and delivering medications along with checking in on their wellbeing. A weekly virtual meeting for families will also be offered to share COVID-19 information.

  • Bengali Information and Employment Services – Raising awareness of COVID-19 among vulnerable people in the Greater Toronto Area who experience language barriers. This will be accomplished through telephone, ethnic print media, social media etc.

  • Black Canadians for Cultural, Educational and Economic Progress – Creating and delivering weekly interactive virtual social programs and activities including cooking and dance classes and arts and crafts to children and youth, racialized Black people and those living in low income in Windsor-Essex.

  • Brams United Girls Soccer Club – Adapting the existing service delivery of the soccer club to a COVID-19 reality in order to provide inclusive and safe recreational programs for women and girls in the community through socially distanced in-person or virtual programs.

    • Teaching vulnerable children and youth in Toronto to dance and volunteer to participate in a flash mob production with the goal of promoting social distancing and becoming a role model for others.
  • Canada International Children's Art Foundation (North York) – Offering free virtual training classes on cooking, arts, technology, a showcase competition, and one-on-one professional sessions for children and youth from low-income families.
  • Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation – Training counselors to work on the newly established TeleCounseling platform to assist people struggling with addiction across Canada through various channels such as texting, chatting, audio, and video calls.
    • Designing and delivering addiction and mental health training for people across the country with a focus on First Nations, Inuit, and Metis populations as well as northern populations.
  • Canadian and African Women Aid Program - Training Afro-Black community members who have lost their employment and source of livelihood due to COVID-19, and to support them with basic needs such as food, and tablets to access online training.
    • Distributing groceries, personal care items and personal protective equipment to seniors of visible minorities and low-income in the Brampton area.
  • Canadian Association of Retired Persons Windsor Essex Chapter – Developing events and resources for seniors and elders not in care, by engaging and videotaping local talent to lead virtual activities focusing on music and virtual sharing of meals.
  • Canadian Association of Wound Care – Developing free resources to help patients and their caregivers prevent and treat wounds at home.
  • Canadian Caribbean Cultural Association of Durham – Preparing and delivering food to reach vulnerable children, youth and seniors. Seniors will also receive Gift of Hope baskets and information sessions on how to protect themselves from telephone scams.
  • Canadian Centre for Better Living – Delivering culturally appropriate meals and care packages to seniors in the Greater Toronto Area who are facing mobility issues.
  • Canadian Centre for Information and Knowledge – Designing and implementing virtual workshops for South Asian seniors and youth in the Scarborough area on health, wellness and coping strategies during COVID-19. Face masks, flyers and information kits will also be distributed.
    • Publishing an information booklet to help advise South Asian community members in Toronto on how to take care of their mental health during COVID-19, provide tips for staying healthy and what to do if they become sick, and connect them with community resources.
  • Canadian Foundation for Classical Cultural Education – Helping children and youth in Markham, Scarborough, and Vaughan develop their creativity and social skills by learning about oriental and western classical cultures. Regular virtual workshops will also help strengthen various aspects of health among those feeling isolated during the pandemic.

  • Canadian School of Cricket – Providing continuous service delivery, consistent communication and social interaction to seniors and other vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario – Producing and distributing masks to seniors and essential workers in the Tibetan community of Toronto. Grocery support will also be provided to seniors, as will virtual dance and meditation programming.
    • Providing structured sports, wellness and cultural activities to children, youth and adults who are experiencing increased social isolation due to COVID-19.
  • Cansomida Inc. – Providing new Canadian families in Kitchener with COVID-19 information in their native language through flyers, an information booklet and webinar.
  • CANVAS Arts Action Programs – Training LGBTQ2S+ facilitators in digital programming while engaging vulnerable youth to co-design digital programming related to healthy relationships, to be shared with youth across Toronto and the Peel region.
  • Capital Rainbow Refuge – Providing online English As A Second Language classes to LBGTQ2S+ newcomers in the Ottawa area. iPads will be loaned to students to ensure they can complete their lessons which were interrupted due to COVID-19. Food vouchers and personal protective equipment will also be provided for workers.

  • Centre canadien pour l'unité de famille – Creating "Flavours of the World" interactive online cooking classes for Francophone and racialized families in Halton and Peel regions of Ontario, while distributing hot meals to marginalized communities.
  • Centre communautaire Francophone Windsor Essex Kent – Improving access to support services for Francophone minority communities through the referral of a navigator to address issues related to food security, mental health, etc.
  • Centre Communautaire Regionale de Sarnia Lambton – Providing hot meals to seniors and families in difficulty while improving access to support services for seniors, people with mental health issues and families with back-to-school concerns.
  • Centre d’Alphabetisation et d’Actions Socio-Communautaire de l’Ontario – Mobilizing volunteers to distribute hygiene supplies and raise awareness about COVID-19 to vulnerable community members.
  • Centr'Elles: Centre des femmes francophones du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario – Purchasing protective equipment to allow for the continued operation of services to women and girls experiencing violence in northwestern Ontario.
  • Centre for New Immigrant Well-Being – Providing access to workshops, a hotline for Mandarin speakers, and sessions with a therapist for Chinese Canadians in the Greater Toronto Area who are experiencing racism and xenophobia as a result of the pandemic.
    • Organizing newcomer youth volunteers to connect with Chinese-Canadian seniors in order to build intergenerational connections, reduce social isolation, and promote healthy living. Webinars promoting wellbeing will be presented as well as opportunities for youth and seniors to present the workshops.
  • Centre for Resilience and Social Development – Creating and disseminating culturally and linguistically appropriate posters, videos, and social media tools on how to prevent COVID-19 in racial and ethnic minority communities. Food, hygiene supplies and personal protective equipment will also be delivered to those in need in Ottawa West.

  • Certified Listeners Society - Recruiting, training and mobilizing volunteers to support people across Canada who are experiencing increased isolation as a result of COVID-19 and are in need of emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Chinese Canadian Collective – Creating and delivering a social media campaign to raise awareness about COVID-19 among Chinese followers. Virtual hangouts will also be implemented for Asian-Canadian youth to help create a sense of community.

  • Fondation Sylvenie Lindor &Centre Multiculturalisme Jean Marcelin Fontaine Inc – Supporting Black Francophone seniors in Toronto by conducting regular check-ins, facilitating access to essential services, and providing information on emergency preparedness.
  • Food for Thought Net-Café – Providing hot meals for those who do not have kitchen facilities or cannot cook for any reason.
    • Serving culturally appropriate meals with a focus on newcomers and those living in low-income who cannot cook.
  • Football Forward – Recruiting and training coaches to design and deliver safe no-touch football training, with physical distancing measures in place, to children and youth from racialized, single-parents and otherwise marginalized families.
  • FrancoQueer – Providing grocery gift cards and personal protective equipment to vulnerable people within the LGBTQIA community in the Toronto area and in Ottawa.
  • F.R.E.S.H. Collective – Providing virtual / telephone wellness checks and emotional support counselling to single-parent households in the Golden Horseshoe area, as well as supporting home-based activities for children.
  • Friends of Gujarat – Purchasing culturally sensitive vegetarian meals for distribution to vulnerable Gujarati seniors and those living with disabilities in Brampton. A virtual helpline will also be established to help connect people with food security services.
    • Engaging licensed hairdressers and barbers to provide haircuts to seniors with mobility issues and individuals living with disabilities, ensuring COVID-19 protocols are followed.
  • Frontline Community Centre – Transiting activities to a phone or virtual platform and providing back-to-school supplies to families in need.
  • Garvi Gujarat Seniors Group – Providing culturally sensitive vegetarian and diet-specific meals as well as essential supplies to seniors in the Peel region with mobility issues.
  • Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario – Delivering virtual tutoring, youth counseling, and health education programs to help reduce social isolation among youth and seniors. Food and personal protective equipment will also be delivered to families most in need.
  • Gibraltar Leadership Academy – Providing students from marginalized, vulnerable and racialized communities with access to personal protective equipment so they can continue to access school and recreational programming. 
  • Global Leadership Village – Combining mentorship, creation of community and COVID-19 education to reach BIPOC LGBTQ2S+ youth. The virtual program involves mentors who will lead in the areas of visual art, spoken word and West African dance/vogueing.

  • Guelph Soccer Club Incorporated – Adapting operational requirements according to the new health protocols for a safe return to playing soccer for children and youth in Guelph.
    • Hosting an education series for coaches focusing on mental and social wellbeing for both coaches and athletes, with a particular focus on children and youth.
  • Guelph Tool Library – Providing tools, workshops and gardening advice to vulnerable and marginalized people impacted financially by COVID-19.

    • Providing caregivers, frontline workers and personal support workers with culturally sensitive training and information on how to deal with COVID-19 as it relates to seniors and those living with disabilities.
