Officials are calling it the worst flooding to affect Serbia and Bosnia in more than a century. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated as homes, roads, and railways have been submerged and a state of emergency has been declared.
The Red Cross is actively responding, providing relief and setting up evacuation centres. To date, the Red Cross has provided items such as blankets, mattresses, drinking water, food and hygiene kits, rubber boots and water purifiers to more than 10,000 people.
Thousands still wait to be rescued from their homes and many are living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions caused by the flooding.
The Canadian Red Cross is now accepting donations to help those affected.
