Three years have passed since the crisis in Syria began and humanitarian needs are greater than ever. The violence has escalated and the impact has left civilians to suffer. Most of the population has been affected by the violence and it has taken a tremendous toll on families who have been forced to move, often multiple times. According to
OCHA, some 9.3 million people are in need of humanitarian aid.
Red Cross Red Crescent activities in Syria and neighbouring countries have expanded significantly in the past year, however, much more needs to be done. In addition to the humanitarian aid provided by several national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in the region, the response to the Syria crisis is currently the
International Committee of the Red Cross’ (ICRC) largest operation in terms of resources committed according to this
recent release.
The Canadian Red Cross launched the
Syria Crisis Fund where Canadians can donate to support efforts to provide assistance to millions of Syrians affected by the conflict.
