Howard Arfin, posing above with CBC’s Peter Mansbridge, received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for bringing recognition to Canada through his work internationally with the Red Cross.

Howard has a long history with the Red Cross dating back to his participation in the Junior Red Cross in Montreal in 1958. Since then, Howard has gone on to become an International Red Cross delegate and attributes his success to the motivation provided by humanitarian service and his ability to explain the work the Red Cross is doing in a relatable way. He is currently working as theInternational Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)’s Regional Representative for the Caribbean.

Howard’s work with the Red Cross is outlined in an article from the IFRC.
