2010 hurricane season is a “storm”y one

Projected path of hurricane Igor which is gaining strength in the Atlantic Ocean.

Hurricane season is in full swing in the Atlantic Ocean. Earlier this year, meteorologists predicted it would be one of the busiest seasons in recent years and it appears to be the case.

A few weeks ago, Hurricane Earl, which at its peak was a category 4 storm, threatened the Maritimes causing downed trees and power outages.  This week there are new storms in the Atlantic.  The first is Hurricane Igor  which is currently a category 4. Not expected to make landfall, there are some concerns the storm could create flooding in the Caribbean including Haiti. Following it is recently formed hurricane Julia, the fifth hurricane of this season. We will be keeping our eyes on both these storms.
