About 300 Meals on Wheels clients in Peel Region will receive a surprise when their hot meals are delivered this week.
In the spirit of the holidays, volunteers are handing out some small gifts to each client. What are they receiving? The donated gifts include a blue shopping bag, courtesy of VIVA Retirement Homes, treats from seniors' residences Amica and Chartwell, and two seasonal, hand-quilted placemats and a toiletry kit, courtesy of the Mississauga Quilters Guild. A Canadian Red Cross 2011 calendar was also included.
Red Cross volunteers deliver 48,000 meals in Peel Region each year.
