(Montreal) – The Red Cross is proud and grateful to announce that its 2013 gala event raised a total of $900,000, which will go towards emergency assistance for the people of Quebec. The result was announced yesterday by Ms. Michèle Dionne, Honorary Chair of the gala event and Red Cross volunteer, before a gathering of guests made up of senior officers and representatives from the business community.

Mr. Michel Léveillé, Director General of the Red Cross in Quebec, highlighted the outstanding work carried out by the organizing committee chaired by Mr. Martin Thibodeau, RBC Royal Bank Regional President, Quebec, which made it possible to seek out new support within the business community. Mr. Thibodeau also recalled a trip to Winnipeg where he witnessed the powerful work of the Red Cross.

Bavaria is honoured

The guests were treated to a memorable experience under the direction of Dick Walsh. The Bavarian setting enabled him to draw on the Oktoberfest theme and the castle that inspired Walt Disney: Neuschwanstein Castle. And where there’s a castle, there’s a princess! It was a tremendous honour for the Red Cross to welcome Princess Christa von Thurn und Taxis, President of the Bavarian Red Cross.

The Order of Red Cross for Mr. Pierre Shedleur

Mr. Pierre Shedleur has been a committed and dedicated Red Cross volunteer for over ten years. At the outset of his involvement, he immediately became interested in the financial aspect, benefiting the organization with his professional expertise and leadership qualities.
