June 26, 2013 - The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to announce that nine banks in Canada are accepting cash donations in support of the Red Cross response to the flooding in Alberta. The flooding has impacted multiple Albertan communities, causing states of local emergency and evacuations, and has affected more than 175,000 people.

June 21, 2013 - Earlier this month, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) asked the Canadian Red Cross to conduct an assessment of the longer term needs of the 2011 Manitoba flood evacuees. Approximately 2,000 individuals were evacuated from six First Nations communities due to flooding that occurred in Manitoba in 2011.

June 17, 2013 - Walmart Canada announced today its stores across the country are raising funds to support Canadian Red Cross disaster preparedness and response. The annual campaign, which runs from August 2 to August 26 in Walmart stores from coast-to-coast, is expected to raise over $3 million.

Recent Red Cross research shows that Canadian parents need to develop a better understanding of how to safeguard children in, on and around the water. With June 1 to 8 being Water Safety Week, the Red Cross is calling on all Canadians to educate themselves and their children about the risk of drowning.
