Technician/Hub Coordinator, Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Technician/Hub Coordinator in the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP).  Reporting to the Equipment Supply Associate, HELP, Kelowna, this position cleans and repairs health equipment at the HELP distribution centre in accordance with established policies and procedures, distributes equipment to HELP client service sites, and provides direct client support and assists volunteers at assigned sites to provide high quality service to HELP clients.

 

Key Responsibilities
 
• Cleans, disinfects, inspects and repairs health equipment according to established standards.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and carries out repairs, following manufacturer’s specifications.
• Documents, repairs and maintains up-to-date equipment records in inventory management system.
• Provides training and coaching to volunteers regarding equipment reprocessing.
• Ensures all reprocessed equipment meets quality standards.
• Liaises with volunteers at client service sites to manage equipment replenishment.
• Transports equipment between HELP sites.
• Ensures facilities are kept in safe working order and OH+S regulations are adhered to.
• Provides direct client service as required and assists volunteers at assigned sites to provide high quality service to HELP clients.
 
Qualifications
 
Education and Experience:
 
The minimum requirements for the job include completion of Grade 12 and some post-secondary education in a related field, a minimum of two (2) years of job-related work experience, including mechanical and repair experience, truck driving delivery, client services, and volunteer management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Abilities and Skills:
 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks on time in a fast-paced work environment
• OH&S facility related inspection training or willingness to take training
• Successful completion of CPR/First Aid taken within past 2 years (or required to take within probationary period)
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
 
Assets:
 
• Experience in health equipment use, maintenance and facility management
• Experience with WHMIS and quality assurance
• Working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural issues
 
Working Conditions
 
• 35 Hour work week Monday to Friday, may be sole employee at assigned site.
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods and safely operate a vehicle for deliveries between HELP sites, which can be up to 75% of the day.
• This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
