Are you empathetic and able to set boundaries? Are you a caring, strong communicator, able to actively listen and ask pertinent questions? Are you detailed oriented? Case Workers do meaningful work, interacting directly with individual beneficiaries that were affected by a disaster. Assessing their needs and capacities, in turn, offering the appropriate and relevant support and assistance in accordance with CRCS Fundamental Principles and the Mission, Disaster Management Standards and programs. Case Work activities may be conducted virtually and/or in-person in a relief and/or recovery context.
In this role you will:
  • Assess beneficiary needs to determine immediate, short and long-term needs including pro-active follow up where appropriate
  • Provide appropriate services as assigned, based on Red Cross Disaster Management Standards, tools and processes as indicated by Provincial/National direction
  • Provide the appropriate payment modality for approved assistance based on the beneficiary’s needs
  • Identify gaps in the beneficiary’s ability to provide for their basic needs and refer more challenging/complex cases to the Case Management Supervisor
  • Recognize and apply practical care and support to affected beneficiaries and personnel in all interactions
  • Participate in and contributes to team-based case management activities to provide a coordinated effort in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the affected community
  • Work with Safety and Wellbeing (SWB) personnel on the management of complex cases, referral mechanisms, and community-based support structures as required
  • Complete necessary paperwork and maintain confidential case files as per CRC standards using applicable systems and tools
  • Ensure file processing and beneficiary follow-up is completed in accordance with case management guidelines
  • Follow established procedures with accurate attention to detail
  • Perform office duties such as data entry, photocopying, faxing & scanning
We’re looking for:
  • A college diploma in a related field and 1-3 years related experience in casework or community engagement, or a combination
  • Knowledge or experience in Social Service, Social Work, Counseling, Teaching or related certified professions an asset
  • Experience in emergency management and understanding of Red Cross role in a disaster would be an asset
  • Computer Skills: Windows, Microsoft Office, Communication & Collaboration tools(Skype, Zoom etc.) Knowledge of EMIS an asset.
  • Designated Home work area that aligns to CRC safe working environments policy
Positions will be Temporary Full Time, the expected time frame is 3-6 month with possibility of extension. Employment terms will be confirmed, when candidates are contacted for an interview. If working in a response site, health and safety considerations will be outlined prior to the assignment.This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check.
