Richard (Dick) Fadden

Richard (Dick) Fadden headshotRichard Fadden was the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister in 2015-2016 and was previously the Deputy Minister of National Defence. He served as the Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service from 2009 until 2013.  He has also served as the Deputy Minister for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada, President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Deputy Clerk and Counsel in the Privy Council Office, during which he assumed the additional duties of Security and Intelligence Coordinator. 
 
Over the course of his career, Dick worked in a variety of positions across the Government of Canada including in the Department of External Affairs, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, Natural Resources Canada and the Treasury Board Secretariat.
 
Since his retirement, Dick has served on a number of boards and advisory councils as well as serving as a Senior Fellow at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa. He also comments on a variety of public policy issues.
 
Dick has been involved with the CRC Government Relations Advisory Committee and has been a Director of the Board since 2020.
