Typhoon Haiyan: Six months on

Topics: Asia, Emergencies and Disasters Worldwide
May 07, 2014

Six months after Typhoon Haiyan made landfall, the Red Cross continues support affected communities.  To help ensure longer-term needs are met, over the next two years the Red Cross will continue to assist almost 800,000 survivors as they work to rebuild their homes, lives and communities.

The Canadian Red Cross is committed to taking the time needed to properly invest in long-term and sustainable recovery operations.  In addition to deploying a field hospital, aid workers and supporting the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ and International Committee of the Red Cross’ appeals, the Canadian Red Cross will support the Red Cross Movement in undertaking a holistic and integrated approach to the recovery operation.  Activities include shelter and settlements, livelihoods and cash transfer programming, water and sanitation, and health.
