The torrential rain that poured down on Magog last Monday, September 2, caused heavy floods and forced several families from their homes.  Volunteer emergency response teams based in Magog and Sherbrooke mobilized immediately and were on site to assist those affected.

An information  centre was established at La Ruche high school.  This allowed volunteers to meet with families individually to asses their needs and offer emergency support from the Red Cross, such as local hotel accommodations and food vouchers.

To date, a total of 74 families (121 adults and 45 children) have received assistance. The Red Cross will stay with them as long as they need assistance.

Red Cross representatives will attend an information session organised by local authorities for those affected by the disaster. This meeting will take place Thursday, September 5 at 7 PM in Magog’s city hall council room.
