Fall is a busy time for families across Canada, as summer activities wind to an end and kids get back into their school routines. This change in pace and priorities makes it a great time for Canadian parents and others to refresh their first aid skills.

Nearly 40 per cent of Canadians say they’ve been in an emergency situation where they’ve had to perform first aid, but only 18 per cent say they are currently certified to provide this life-saving help.  While many Canadians take first aid training as part of their work, most of those who have used their first aid skills say they did so to help a family member in distress. Basic life-saving first aid training can be done in as little as four hours, and courses are available in communities across the country.

The Red Cross is also adding a new tool to keep Canadians sharpen and maintain their skills.
