The Red Cross continues to assist in Lac-Mégantic

July 02, 2015 - Two years will soon have passed since the tragic events in Lac-Mégantic, and the Red Cross continues to help the community get back on its feet. To date, 3,236 people have received Red Cross assistance, including children who have lost one or both parents, workers and students who have lost their jobs, as well as the owners of businesses affected by the disaster. Support has also been provided to 232 businesses, 17 non-profit organizations and over 150 projects. 

Gala benefit for the Red Cross in Quebec: $700,000 raised for emergency relief operations

May 21, 2015 - Montreal, May 21, 2015 – Guests attending the annual fundraiser for the Quebec Division of the Canadian Red Cross had the privilege of being transported to the heart of Marrakesh as Montreal’s New City Gas was clothed in Moroccan finery for the occasion. This colourful event raised $700,000 to support disaster response operations in Quebec. The financial information was disclosed by the co-chairs of the organizing committee including Norman Steinberg, Global Vice-Chair of Norton Rose Fulbright and Chairman of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada, Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank, and honorary chair Michèle Dionne, a Red Cross volunteer. 

One in two people in Haiti has received Red Cross assistance over the past five years

January 08, 2015 - It has been five years since an earthquake devastated Haiti, leading to the largest single country response in Red Cross history. While much progress has been made following the disaster on January 12, 2010, the Canadian Red Cross continues its long-term recovery efforts to help Haitians rebuild and strengthen their communities.
