Red Cross raffle sold out

Topics: Saskatchewan, Violence, Bullying and Abuse Prevention
December 18, 2014

Tickets for the Red Cross Campaign for Kids Raffle are so popular this year that they sold out a month and a half early. Proceeds from the raffle stay in Saskatchewan to fund the Red Cross bullying prevention program.

“Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. We are thrilled that the raffle sold out early,” says Monika Zmetana, provincial gaming coordinator for the Red Cross in Saskatchewan. “It’s a win-win for everyone. People have a chance to win and support a great cause at the same time.”

More than $88,000 in prize money will be distributed including a $25,000 grand prize, a $5,000 early bird draw, a 50/50 draw, plus daily prizes of $1,000 throughout January. The winners will be posted online at redcross.ca/CampaignForKids. Draws will be made daily in January.

For more than 30 years, the Red Cross has worked closely with schools and communities to create safer environments for all youth. Education is the key to the prevention of bullying behaviour. Red Cross programs teach youth and adults how to recognize, prevent and respond to bullying situations. Last year alone, 37,000 youth participated in Red Cross violence, bullying and abuse prevention programs.
