Scarborough Drop In – Tuesday and Thursday Dinner program

To improve the lives of people who are marginally housed, socially isolated and homeless in the downtown area by providing a nutritious meal.

  • Load and unload supplies (e.g. groceries, disposable place settings and cutlery).
  • Work in a team to set up tables, chairs, the serving line, bussing station, and hot drinks table.
  • Work in a team to serve hot meals to an average of 150 clients on a weekly basis.
  • Be aware of personal and group health and safety practices and procedures, and act in accordance with these.
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviours towards all program participants and volunteers.
Time Committment
  • Minimum 3-6 hours per week. Minimum 6-12 months commitment. Tuesday and Thursdays--> Dinner program
  • Be flexible: respect, be open to and supportive of the thoughts, opinions and contribution of others.
  • Be responsible: plan and manage time, cope with uncertainty and paradox.
  • Work independently and with others to support teams’ purpose.
  • Knowledge on homelessness, poverty, and equity issues would be an asset.
