Transportation Driver

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Transportation Driver for the Community Health department.  Reporting to the Community Health Transportation Coordinator this position will provide transportation rides to and from appointments and other activities to the frail elderly and /or ambulatory adults with physical disabilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs the safe pick up, transportation and return home of clients.
  • Assists client and their mobility equipment to and from the vehicle
  • Maintains and submits accurate records to coordinator
  • Understands and follows policies and procedures as per Community Health requirements
  • Completes required Orientation and Training


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years driving experience with a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance (if using personal vehicle)
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (Training provided)

  • Excellent driving skills
  • Tact and the ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Physically able to assist clients with physical limitations and/or mobility devices
Assets (not required, not assessed, but desired)
  • Previous experience working with seniors would be a benefit

This position requires a successful Canadian Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. 

Working Conditions

  • 4 or more hours per week depending on availability
  • The majority of the work is performed outside of an office setting.
