Scarborough Drop In Program Support

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking volunteers for the Scarborough Drop In Program. Successful candidates will report to the program Coordinator and work to provide homelss and under-housed clients with suitable programs and services through serving food, helping to maintain the drop in centre and greeting clients.
Duties
  • Volunteers may be asked to help set up, serve food, and help keep the centre clean through out the day.
  • Interact with clients in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Register clients if required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Fluent oral English skills are required.Volunteers need to be able to do some heavy lifting.
  • Some experience working with people struggling with poverty issues is preferred but not mandatory. Volunteers are asked to have a warm, respectful and tolerant attitude and to be able to work with people from all walks of life. They are expected to be prompt for their shifts and committed to helping others.
  • Reliable and punctual.
This position requires a successful Canadian Criminal Record Check and successful Vulnerable Sector Search.
