Are you looking for a new volunteer opportunity and want to be a part of the Canadian Red Cross team, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world? We have an opportunity for you!

If you are interested in spending a morning or afternoon providing a senior with assistance with grocery shopping and errands, please contact the Red Cross now! Volunteers provide companionship and relief through social interaction and by helping clients to access a grocery store and other places they wouldn’t normally be able to visit without your help!

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs the safe pick up, transportation and return home of clients.
  • Assists client and their mobility equipment to and from the vehicle
  • Maintains and submits accurate records to coordinator
  • Understands and follows policies and procedures as per Community Health requirements
  • Completes required Orientation and Training


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years driving experience with a valid driver’s license
  • Clear Driver’s Abstract
  • Clear Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (Training provided)

Abilities and Skills

  • Understanding and adherence to the CRC principles and values.
  • Strong Customer service skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent driving skills
  • Tact and the ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Physically able to assist clients with physical limitations and/or mobility devices

Assets (not required, not assessed, but desired)
Previous experience working with seniors would be a benefit

Working Conditions

  • 4 or more hours per week depending on availability
  • The majority of the work is performed outside of an office setting.
