Community Health - Equipment Driver Volunteer

Do you want to make a difference in the daily lives of people in our community who utilize our services?  By assisting in the return of loaned health equipment you will be ensuring that we maintain an adequate supply of equipment for our clients.

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking an Equipment Driver volunteer for the Community Health Department.  Reporting to the Service Centre Coordinator this position will schedule the pickup of over-due equipment and pick equipment up from clients and donors.

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling, via telephone, the pick-up of overdue health equipment and health equipment donations.
Using a Red Cross vehicle, pick up health equipment as per the schedule.
Record keeping and statistics submission as required.


Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid Provincial Driver’s License
Must be able to provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Must have current First Aid CRP certification ( provided by Red Cross)

Abilities and Skills

Understanding and adherence to the CRC principles and values.
Strong communication skills
Basic computer skills
Must be physically able to lift equipment (50 lb maximum)
Organized and able to provide adequate reports


(not required, not assessed, but desired)
Knowledge of streets within HRM would be an asset
Strong Customer service skills with a friendly courteous manner

This position requires a successful Canadian Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. 

Working Conditions

6 or more hours per week depending on availability
