The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking an Administrative Assistant Volunteer for the Aids to Independent Living (AIL) Program.

Reporting to the Coordinator this position provides general office duties to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the AIL Program.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Filing, preparing mail outs, photo copying, and faxing as required for day to day operations and projects.
  • Assisting in following up with clients and health care professionals in regards to equipment loaned from the program.
  • Assisting with client surveys and feedback forms.
  • Assisting in processing incoming client equipment applications.
  • Assisting with special projects as directed by staff.
  • Assist in report preparation, accounting procedures and volunteer training.
  • Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required.
  • Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment
  • Performs other duties, as required
 
Qualifications
  • Training in customer service or office administration and a minimum of one year work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires a satisfactory Canadian vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including handling interactions with the public, clients and colleagues
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English, including telephone etiquette
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of an effective team
  • < >Ability to effectively execute assigned tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and inventory databases
  • Ability to operate a photocopier, scanner and fax machine
 
Working Conditions
 
We are seeking volunteers who can commit to a minimum of six months of service.   Ideally volunteers will be available on an on-going basis. We are currently seeking volunteers available to fill one or more 4 hour shifts between Monday and Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm,
