
Major Gifts Volunteer, Fund Development
Program: Canadian Red Cross -Fund Development Position: Major Gifts Volunteer Location: Burnaby Office
Description: Volunteer to assist the Fund Development team in major gift fundraising, including a new initiative--expanding the Red Cross Tiffany Circle (women philanthropic leadership network) to British Columbia. The role will be an interesting mix of donor relations, prospect research and project planning assistance.
Main Tasks:
- Prospect research & Donor Relations
- Project /Event planning
- Database administration (Raisers Edge)
Training: Volunteers will have training which includes a 3 hour “Red Cross -Intro to the Movement” workshop. Training covers Red Cross basics and information on our local and international programs. Ongoing training in fundraising, research and Raisers Edge Database also available.
Time Commitment: daytime availability (1-2 days per week); prefer 4 month commitment. Must be able to work out of the Burnaby Office (computer and workspace will be provided).
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn about Red Cross Programs and fundraising strategies
- Good internet research skills
- Experience in Raisers Edge preferred (but not necessary)
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Must abide by Red Cross Principles and Values
Language Required: English; additional languages an asset
