Red Cross responding to flooding in British Columbia
The Canadian Red Cross is actively responding to meet the needs of families affected by a devastating landslide in Johnson's Landing, near Kaslo, British Columbia, that destroyed four homes, and helping communities across the province affected by other landslides, floods, and ongoing severe storms.

"Our thoughts are with the community and our condolences go out to those families who have experienced great personal loss," says Kimberley Nemrava, provincial director for the Canadian Red Cross.

Severe storms and heavy rains have led to landslides in several communities in the Kootenays, and flooding continues to affect families across the province. The storms have caused significant damage and forced people from their homes. Families are in need of immediate assistance.

Red Cross Disaster Management volunteers are working with authorities to identify communities' needs; providing services to disaster-affected families, including referrals to local community agencies; and assisting with immediate and long-term needs like food, water, clothing and housing.

Your help is needed to support families as they recover during the weeks and months ahead.
