Canadian Red Cross and Edmonton Eskimos Team Up Against Bullying
(Alberta) April 16, 2012: The Canadian Red Cross - Alberta along with the Edmonton Eskimos and the Calgary Stampeders are proud to announce our Beyond the Hurt anti-bullying partnership. Edmonton Eskimo and Calgary Stampeders players, Dale Stevenson, Justin Conn, Eric Fraser and Corey Mace along with Canadian Red Cross Volunteers will share bullying and harassment prevention messaging with youth ages 12 and up.
"Canadian Red Cross is very proud that our Violence and Abuse Prevention workshops will have a great new Partner" says Rhonda Schwab, Violence and Abuse Prevention Manager for the Canadian Red Cross. "These workshops will provide a lasting and meaningful impact in the lives of our youth."
As part of the RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention program, Beyond the Hurt explores all aspects of bullying and peer harassment, interpersonal power issues, and the rights and responsibilities of individuals, as well as prevention and intervention strategies.
"Bullying has become one of the most pressing social issues facing young people today," says Dale Stevenson Offensive Lineman with the Edmonton Eskimos. " I'm proud to represent the Edmonton Eskimos as a member of the Red Cross Beyond the Hurt team as we help deliver important messages and tested strategies for dealing with this problem"
Anti-bullying presentations will be delivered by trained Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders football players are an excellent opportunity to equip youth with the tools they need to take a stand against bullying.
For more than 25 years, the Canadian Red Cross has been helping to break the cycle of hurt. RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention programs promote healthier relationships and safer communities through education and partnerships.
