The Canadian Red Cross hosts numerous events to engage supporters and report back on the work of the Red Cross locally and around the world. Members of the Canadian Tiffany Circle have the advantage of participating or helping to plan unique events - based on their areas of interest, schedules and personal level of involvement. Past Events:Emergency Response Unit Tour (Schomberg) October 17, 2012Donors had the unique opportunity to view a Red Cross outdoor field hospital first-hand. Senior international delegates provided a deeper understanding of how field-hospitals are deployed and set up in disasters situations around the world. The Canadian Red Cross EMRU was most recently used in Haiti in response to the cholera outbreak. Stratford Festival Event (Stratford) September 22, 2012Tiffany Circle Members and guests enjoyed a lovely day in Stratford, Ontario beginning with a tour of the Stratford Festival Costume Warehouse, a luncheon at a local cafe and a matinee performance of one of Shakespeares best comedies - Much Ado About Nothing. UK Tiffany Circle Launch Event (London, England) September 19, 2012Six Canadian Tiffany Circle Members joined the British Red Cross to celebrate the Launch of the Tiffany Circle in the UK. Once again, Tiffany & Co. generously sponsored a reception at their Old Bond Street location and Fortnum & Mason hosted a lovely dinner to commemorate the occasion. While Members were privileged to gather in beautiful surroundings, they were reminded of why they all choose the Red Cross to assist those most vulnerable. Breakfast at Tiffanys Tiffany Circle 1st Anniversary Event (Toronto) September 16, 2012Tiffany Circle Members and guests celebrated the first year anniversary of the Tiffany Circle in Canada with Breakfast at Tiffany's, graciously hosted by Tiffany & Co. in Yorkdale Mall. Honorary Chair, Laureen Harper, addressed the gathering and reinforced the importance of supporting the Canadian Red Cross. Members were recognized for their commitment and new members were welcomed to the Tiffany Circle. Red Cross Healthcare Programs and the Stratford Community Initiative Update (Kitchener, ON) July 31, 2012Tiffany Circle Member Mari McAndrews hosted members to learn more about the changes in healthcare and planned expansion of Red Cross Healthcare Programs. Thunder Bay Floods Update on Relief Efforts (Conference Call) July 18, 2012Immediately after the disaster hit, Red Cross volunteers in Thunder Bay began responding to the Floods. On this update conference call, Tiffany Circle members heard first-hand accounts from Red Cross volunteers and staff involved in the relief operations. British Red Cross Pre-Launch Event (London, England) June 26, 2012The UK Tiffany Circle Pre-Launch was celebrated at 1 Carlton Gardens which served as the residence of Prince Louis Napoleon during his exile. Canadian Tiffany Circle members had the unique opportunity to attend and to learn about the goals of the UK Tiffany Circle, how Canadian expatriates can contribute to this international network and the varying role of women in this new movement and during times of disaster. Washington Summit Debrief and Brainstorming (Conference Call) June 12, 2012Tiffany Circle Members that attended the Washington Summit provided a recap of the Summit for those who were not able to attend. Members shared lessons and best practices learned from their American counterparts, brainstormed ideas and planned for the upcoming year. Annual Tiffany Circle Summit (Washington, DC) June 1-3, 2012The 6th Annual Womens Leadership Summit brought together like-minded Tiffany Circle members from across the US, Britain and Canada. This leadership and networking conference featured exclusive events at different venues throughout the city, including the American Red Cross Board of Governors Hall that houses the treasured Tiffany Windows. Members had the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers, including a special address by Mrs. Laura Bush. Women participated in a series of discussion, along with an international delegates meeting. This three-day Summit was an ideal opportunity for Tiffany Circle members to network, share and learn from the international Red Cross leadership while visiting spectacular venues in Washington, DC. Imagine No Bullies (Toronto) May 27, 2012Hosted by Anne-Marie Mediwake, co-host of CBC News Toronto, guests heard from an expert panel and watched eye-opening documentaries on the issue of bullying. For 28 years, the Canadian Red Cross has been promoting healthier relationships and safer communities through education and partnerships. Emergency Medical Response Unit (EMRU) Tour (Schomberg) May 22/23, 2012This simulation exercise was organized to prepare Red Cross delegates for deployment in disaster areas where immediate health care services are needed. The tours provided a unique opportunity for Tiffany Members to view an outdoor field hospital first-hand with an experienced international delegate. Womens Executive Luncheon (Toronto) May 15, 2012The Womens Executive Luncheon hosted by Mrs. Laureen Harper, Honorary Chair of Tiffany Circle, featured an expert panel discussion on the impact and plans for a new Red Cross office in a First Nation community. Experts shared first-hand knowledge on Red Cross disaster response efforts in Attawapiskat and discussed future goals of the Strength and Spirit Fundraising Campaign. Tiffany Circle Recruitment Tea (Waterloo) April 17, 2012Tiffany Circle Member Siobhan Furst hosted other members and women interested in learning more about the Red Cross and the Tiffany Circle. Speakers shared personal experiences and their connection to the Red Cross. Tiffany Circle Launch (Ottawa) March 20, 2012This event was hosted at the United States Embassy by Mrs. Julie Jacobson, wife of the US Ambassador, and Mrs. Laureen Harper, Honorary Chair of the Tiffany Circle. This exclusive event officially introduced the Tiffany Circle to the Ottawa community and two new members were welcomed to the Tiffany Circle! The evening ended with a dinner on the town for members. Personal Disaster Preparedness Workshop (Oakville) February 1st, 2012Tiffany Circle Members participated in a workshop to increase their personal knowledge and preparedness learning what to do before, during and after an emergency. This workshop was hosted by The Weather Network and participants also received a special tour of the building and operations. Red Cross 101 Workshop for Tiffany Circle Members (Mississauga) November 29th, 2011Tiffany Circle Members participated in an informative orientation on the work of the global Red Cross movement and our programs here in Canada. Tiffany Circle Luncheon (Ottawa) November 21, 2011During an informal luncheon hosted by a Red Cross Supporter, Steering Cabinet Member Mari McAndrews addressed a group of women interested in hearing more about the Tiffany Circle. Guests also heard from Honorary Chair Mrs. Laureen Harper who shared experiences and her Red Cross story. Junior Youth Delegate Presentation (Mississauga) November 16, 2011Junior Red Cross Delegate Sonia Komenda, shared experiences from her recent overseas deployment to Honduras where she helped implement a Maternal Newborn Child Health Project. Approximately 10,000 children have been helped through this project to date. Luncheon with the Japan Ambassador (Toronto) October 24, 2011The luncheon was hosted by the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa. Japan Earthquake supporters heard from the Ambassador and Red Cross delegate Ms. Pat Laberge on the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. International Delegates Panel (Ottawa) October 21, 2011Delegates from India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Pakistan provided an overview of the Canadian Red Cross work in these countries, participated in a panel discussion and Q&A session. Red Cross Town Hall (Conference Call) October 18, 2011Supporters from across Ontario participated in a unique Town Hall - by conference call where they learned about Red Cross community-based health care programs, contributed to surveys and asked questions about services. Womens Luncheon (Ottawa) October 6, 2011Key note speaker Senator Salma Ataullahjan spoke about her experiences with the Red Cross Movement in Pakistan and the relief efforts for the Pakistan Floods. Tiffany Circle Co-Chair Ela Landegger shared her own story and introduced the idea of the Tiffany Circle in Ottawa to a select number of guests. They shared their message of thanks for the generous support of Canadians during the Pakistan Flood Relief Efforts. Private Dinner at People's Republic of China Embassy (Ottawa) - June 3, 2011This intimate gathering was hosted by the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, His Excellency Junsai ZHANG and his wife Mrs. Guomei YIN at their residence in Ottawa for supporters of the Canadian Red Cross. Ron Kelusky, Director General of the Canadian Red Cross spoke about the work of the Red Cross here at home and around the world. Coffee with President of Afghan Red Crescent Society (Mississauga) April 8, 2011Fatima Gailani, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, is a lifelong advocate of women's rights in Afghanistan. Ms. Gailani was visiting Canada to raise awareness for a Vocational Training Program for women in Kabul and to highlight the work of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement in meeting the needs of those affected by conflict in Afghanistan.
