Youth Conference Planning Committee Member

Program/Department: RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention
Location: Winnipeg

Purpose:

  • To plan and coordinate the annual Youth Leadership Conference. The conference seeks to empower youth to be involved in creating safe schools and communities, free from bullying and violence.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Attend planning committee meetings.
  • Plan the Youth Leadership Conference including the coordination of speakers, securing a conference location and refreshments, and organizing display booths.
  • Provide support and leadership throughout the conference day to Red Cross staff.

Time Commitment:

  • Commit to a minimum of one year.
  • Attend monthly committee meetings on evenings and weekends. Additional prep time may be required.
  • Attend the Youth Leadership Conference.

Qualifications:

  • Be a minimum of 15 years of age or in Grade 9.
  • Be able to work as part of a team. Event planning experience is an asset.
  • Be reliable, organized and creative.

Requirements:

  • Understand and support the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Completion of successful Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence if position requires.

Training & Orientation:

  • Intro to the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Training related to the program as required.
